Little Nexus-

Good Morning,

Our Little Nexus group had a very busy day yesterday.....so busy that after dinner we all returned to our rooms and fell asleep almost immediately!

The Dolphin Research Center was the highlight of the day.  Our guide was fantastic (actually, she was the same guide we had last year and she remembered us!).  We spent the entire afternoon getting a first hand look at the dolphins and their trainers.  We explored their feeding habits, life cycles, personalities and talents!  With just a tweet of the whistle, or a simple hand motion from one of the trainers, the dolphins dove, flipped, waved, gave high fives, and interacted with us.  They were very responsive to our clapping and cheering...in fact, the more we cheered the more they showed off their many talents. The students took tons of pictures and we have posted a few on the Nexus blog.

Our trip to the Turtle Hospital was cut short by a fast moving but fierce storm that blew through the area at almost the exact time we were touring the outside turtle tanks....we tried to hang in for as long as we could, but finally the storm won, and we had to leave the area.  Happily, we did see a few of the rescued turtles and learned some interesting facts before the storm forced us back inside. Oh well....

We ate dinner at a tiny family owned Italian restaurant that was fantastic! The owners were very complimentary of our students and commented on how refreshing it was to serve such a large group of children with such nice manners.   Of course, that made us very proud!

Today we are off to snorkel over the reef that we toured from the glass bottom boat on Tuesday.  As you can imagine, the kids are super excited.  We will post pictures on the blog as soon as we can, so stay tuned.

Warmly,

Julie
