Yellowstone

Good afternoon from Big Sky! After a good sleep in a steady rain last night, while we all stayed dry, we woke up ready for our first real day.. it started out with a great hike to Pixel Falls where the river is running at its maax due to the snow melt. the students looked tiny as they stood at the base of the falls. we spent time discussing the need to stop and smell the flowers and game note of the details that make the falls and everything we do so special. we do not want to do a quick snap shot trip of Yellowstone. before we knew it, the students were stopping to take photos, noticing the shadows as the fell on the falls, and the power of water as it carved up the valley wall. Following our morning hike, we headed zip lining with zips across gorges that were four hundred feet wide. you can actually access the photos at www.bigskyphotos.com under the 1130 zip line. Students mentioned they have been pipelining but they all admitted it was nothing like what we just did. we are about to go to the high ropes course to discuss the concept of challenge by choice. we want students to step out of their comfort zones into their growth zones, but avoid the danger zone. I hope to take some photos on my camera and post them before we head back to our campsite! And if you are curious, dinner was fantastic last night as we had tacos. I was so impressed with how much they were working together yo prep the meals, clean the fishes, and were all offering a hand. stayed tuned for future updates!
