Today we went snorkeling over the reef. It was amazing to see with all of the different fish and coral. We saw a lot of conch shells too! There was also eels and even a sting ray! At first we were all scared, but when we got in the water and held hands we got over our fear.
We saw a long fish called a barracuda and a leopard type fish! It was so cool.
I think we all did a really good job when we snorkeled. I loved looking at all the pretty fish as we swam by.
Afterwards we got lunch and headed to go feed some tarpans. They were huge! It was so funny when you threw in a fish and they all raced to it and fought for it. Some fish were bigger than others, but there were hundreds and hundreds of fish! I have never seen so many fish! I loved feeding them but they jumped for the fish. After feeding the tarpans, we shopped in the gift areas around the Tarpans. Some people bought some shaved ice. We had so many fun filled days here. We loved Key Largo!

Little Nexus-
Good Morning,
Our Little Nexus group had a very busy day yesterday.....so busy that after dinner we all returned to our rooms and fell asleep almost immediately!
The Dolphin Research Center was the highlight of the day. Our guide was fantastic (actually, she was the same guide we had last year and she remembered us!). We spent the entire afternoon getting a first hand look at the dolphins and their trainers. We explored their feeding habits, life cycles, personalities and talents! With just a tweet of the whistle, or a simple hand motion from one of the trainers, the dolphins dove, flipped, waved, gave high fives, and interacted with us. They were very responsive to our clapping and cheering...in fact, the more we cheered the more they showed off their many talents. The students took tons of pictures and we have posted a few on the Nexus blog.
Our trip to the Turtle Hospital was cut short by a fast moving but fierce storm that blew through the area at almost the exact time we were touring the outside turtle tanks....we tried to hang in for as long as we could, but finally the storm won, and we had to leave the area. Happily, we did see a few of the rescued turtles and learned some interesting facts before the storm forced us back inside. Oh well....
We ate dinner at a tiny family owned Italian restaurant that was fantastic! The owners were very complimentary of our students and commented on how refreshing it was to serve such a large group of children with such nice manners. Of course, that made us very proud!
Today we are off to snorkel over the reef that we toured from the glass bottom boat on Tuesday. As you can imagine, the kids are super excited. We will post pictures on the blog as soon as we can, so stay tuned.
Warmly,
Julie
Little Nexus- Notes from Students
Dear Parents,
So far, we have already had a lot of fun on our Nexus trip! The plane ride was good and we are currently in the airport. We went to get our luggage and some of us had to wait. Eventually, we all had our bags and made our way to the Rental Car area. To get there, we had to take the Miami Airport's SkyTrain. It was super fun and cool to ride! Right now, we're in the Rental Car area, waiting for our cars. Enterprise apparently had some problems. The other boys are taking a walk around the airport with Mrs. Cake. Soon, we will be in our house, relaxing. Talk to you soon,
Michael and Luke :)

Little Nexus- Blog From Girls
We're all settled in Key Largo. We are staying in the Marriott hotel. Last night and this morning we went swimming in the pool. Mrs. Scherrer woke up early and got us bagels and muffins for breakfast. I loved the colors of the water and the palm trees from yesterday. We've had a lot of fun so far and I hope we have lots more before leaving on Friday. Right now we're on our way to the turtle research center. I know it will be a blast. We are having soooo much fun!!!
