Bonjour,
We've just spent two wonderful days enjoying the beauty of the French Riviera. On Thursday, we made an excursion to "Iles de Lerins" which is an island directly across from the city of Cannes, home of the famous International Cannes Film Festival. On the island we toured an ancient military fort with remnants dating back to the early Greeks, descended down to the beach for a picnic lunch and some sunbathing, and finally an opportunity to kayak around the island. The students seemed to enjoy the adventure of kayaking in the Med and returned exhausted but exhilarated with the adventure -- everyone was ready to return home for a good night's sleep. Today we spent the day getting to know the city of Nice, both its ancient part and it's newer section that is referred to as the "Vieux Nice". This gave everyone an opportunity to "faire du shopping", eat a lunch of foods representative of Nice and and Provence, and visit the daily market with its flowers, foods, candies and soaps.
