Day Two

Today on our St. Croix trip,we went to Bush Tribe adventure. We went kayaking through many mangroves, and learned how they impacted the reefs of St. Croix. Our guide told us how all fish lay their eggs in the protected mangroves, and what types of mangroves there are. We learned that there are red, black, white, and gray(or button wood) mangrove bushes. After kayaking, we were led on a hike along the shore line. We got to learn about many plants and their uses. We came back to Discovery Grove for free time and dinner. We then went to a National Park to learn about the bats of the USVI. We went on an unexpected trip to a near-by beach to release baby sea turtles. It was very amazing to watch them struggle to the water, and finally reach their goal. Over all, today was very exciting and fun! -By: Caneel Cravotta
